What Goes in the Recycling Container?

Place these items in the Recycling Container
Plastic Containers PaperPaper
  • Paper, junk mail, computer and copy paper, catalogs, envelopes (windows ok) magazines, newspaper, ream wrappers, telephone books, paper boxes with liners, gift wrap without foil or ribbon.
  • Cardboard (flattened)
  • Plastic coated paper drink boxes (soy and juice, rinsed), frozen food boxes (clean), milk cartons (rinsed), juice cartons and ice cream cartons (flattened and no lids)*

  • All plastic bottles and containers (lids removed)
Tin CansAluminum cans Metals
  • Aluminum cans (rinsed)
  • Tin cans (rinsed and labels removed)
Place in Separate Bin
Glass Glass
  • Bottles and jars of any color (rinsed and no lids)
  • Do not put glass in the recycling cart. Place glass in separate bin next to your cart on collection day.
* Not sure if a carton or box is poly-coated or plastic-coated? Use the scratch and tear test. If you scratch it and see wax, throw it into the Garbage. If you tear it and see a thin layer of plastic-coated paper, rinse, flatten and recycle!
