What Goes in the Recycling Container?

Place these items in the Green Recycling Container |
Paper
- Paper, junk mail, computer and
copy paper, catalogs, envelopes
(windows ok) magazines, newspaper,
ream wrappers, shredded paper in a
paper bag (taped), telephone books,
paper boxes with liners, gift wrap
without foil or ribbon.
- Cardboard (flattened)
- Plastic coated paper drink boxes (soy and juice,
rinsed), frozen food boxes (clean),
milk cartons (rinsed), juice cartons
and ice cream cartons (flattened and
no lids)*

Plastics
- All plastic bottles and containers (lids removed)

Plastic retail and produce bags (clean and dry). Place in a similar type plastic bag and tie securely.

Metals
- Aluminum cans (rinsed), clean
aluminum foil, aluminum food
containers (no food residue)
- Scrap metals, less than 2’ in
any direction and less than 35 lbs.
in weight per item (no wood, rubber,
plastic or other contaminants)
- Tin cans (rinsed and labels
removed)

Glass
- Bottles and jars of any color (rinsed and no lids)

| * Not sure if a carton or box is plastic-coated? Use the scratch and tear test. If you scratch it and see wax, throw it into the Garbage. If you tear it and see a thin layer of plastic-coated paper, rinse, flatten and recycle!
