What Goes in the Recycling Cart?

Place your recyling cart out by 7:00 am on your scheduled collection day.


Did you know that you can now recycle small electronics, small appliances, linens and clothing? Learn about the Expanded Recycling Program.


Place clean and dry recyclable items into the new blue recycling carts. Put extra recyclables in paper bags or boxes, marked "Recycling" and place near the blue recycling cart or container on collection day.


If you are not a garbage customer, Recycling Service is available for a monthly fee.

Plastic Containers PaperPaper
  • Paper, junk mail, catalogs, cardboard (flattened, less than 3'x3'), magazines, newspaper, shredded paper (put in a clear or see-thru plastic bag, tie securely) telephone books, paper boxes (remove and discard box liners), gift wrap without foil or ribbon.
  • Plastic-coated paper cartons & boxes, including drink boxes (soy and juice, rinsed), frozen food boxes (clean), milk cartons (rinsed), juice cartons and ice cream cartons (flattened and no lids)*

  • Plastic retail and produce bags (clean and dry) placed in a similar type plastic bag and tied securely to prevent litter
  • All plastic bottles, jars, tubs and jugs (lids and caps removed)
  • Plastic shrink and bubble wrap (clean and dry, no food waste) placed in a similar type plastic bag and tied securely to prevent litter.
  • Plastic 5-gallon buckets (rinsed, no lids, metal handles removed)

  • Aluminum cans (rinsed), aluminum pots and pans, clean aluminum foil, aluminum food containers (no food residue)
  • Scrap metals, less than 2' in any direction and less than 35 lbs. in weight per item (no wood, rubber, plastic or other contaminants)
  • Tin cans (rinsed)

  • Bottles and jars of any color (rinsed and no lids)
* Not sure if a carton or box is plastic-coated? Use the scratch and tear test. If you scratch it and see wax, throw it into the Garbage. If you tear it and see a thin layer of plastic-coated paper, rinse, flatten and recycle!
