What Goes in the Recycling Cart?

Place your recycling cart out by 7:00 am on your scheduled collection day.


Place clean and dry recyclable items into the recycling carts. Put extra recyclables in paper bags or boxes, marked "Recycling" and place near the recycling cart or container on collection day.


If you are not a garbage customer, Recycling Service is available for a monthly fee.

  • Paper, junk mail, catalogs, cardboard (flattened, less than 3'x3'), magazines, newspaper, telephone books, paper boxes (liners removed), gift wrap (no foil or ribbon).
  • Poly-coated paper cartons & boxes, including drink boxes (soy and juice, rinsed), frozen food boxes (clean), milk cartons (rinsed), juice cartons and ice cream cartons (flattened and no lids)*

  • All plastic bottles, jars, and jugs (milk, pop)
    No lids or caps
  • Round dairy tubs. (margarine, yogurt)

  • Aluminum cans (rinsed)

  • Bottles and jars of any color (rinsed and no lids)
* Not sure if a carton or box is poly-coated? Use the scratch and tear test. If you scratch it and see wax, throw it into the Garbage. If you tear it and see a thin layer of plastic-coated paper, rinse, flatten and recycle!
